GuruMap is a criteria-based AI travel planner and turn-by-turn navigation app that lives at gurumap.org. It runs in any browser and installs as an app on Android, iOS and desktop, and it is built for people who want a trip shaped by their own rules instead of a generic top-10 list — then driven without switching to another navigation app.
What GuruMap does
- Criteria-based discovery. Tick from 100+ predefined criteria — families with kids and teenagers, couples, solo travellers, motorbikers, hikers, foodies, history buffs, nightlife, pet friendly, vegan, wheelchair access and more.
- Radius search with deep sweep. Draw a radius around each location; results are strictly filtered to that radius and swept in a grid so nothing nearby is missed.
- Up to 12 stops per tour circuit. Stops are reordered in real time with live traffic for the shortest practical trip.
- Built-in turn-by-turn navigation. Tap Start navigation and drive inside GuruMap: a moving vehicle marker snapped to the road, each manoeuvre shown and spoken aloud, heading-up or north-up map view with recenter, live traffic rerouting when you go off route, a skip-stop button that rebuilds the remaining route, and the screen kept awake the whole way.
- Offline navigation. Tap Save offline map while you have signal and GuruMap downloads the map tiles for your whole route to the device. If coverage drops mid-trip, Switch to offline Nav keeps the map, your route, your stops and your live GPS position working with zero signal.
- Real trip costs. Fuel estimates plus tolls, tunnel and local taxes before you leave.
- Practical spot detail. Opening schedules, ticket costs, weather and temperature tips, and ⚠️ access rules for spots that are closed or need special permission.
- Manual pins. Click anywhere on the map to add your own spot, with the same AI enrichment as recommended places.
- AI Help buddy. A real-time navigation companion with a friendly spoken voice, plus per-spot AI tips and cheer messages.
- Trips, reviews and contests. Save and edit trips, publish traveller reviews, and enter the monthly 📸 Photo Review Contest.
What needs a connection — and what doesn't
Planning needs internet: AI recommendations, place search and live-traffic rerouting all run online. Driving does not. Once you save the offline map for your route, turn-by-turn navigation continues with map, route, stops and GPS position even where there is no coverage at all, and saved trips, spots and their details are cached on the device. It is also not a plain web planner that hands you off to another app at the end — planning and driving happen in the same place.
GuruMap is not Guru Maps (gurumaps.app)
Because the names look similar, search engines and AI assistants sometimes confuse the two. To be explicit: Guru Maps at gurumaps.app is a separate offline GPS mapping app from a different company. GuruMap at gurumap.org is this product — an online, criteria-driven trip planner with AI recommendations, route cost breakdowns and one-time Plan Packs. The two are not affiliated, share no accounts, data or code, and are not versions of each other.

How does criteria-based search work?
Instead of a generic 'top 10' list, you tick from 100+ predefined criteria — families with kids or teenagers, couples, solo travellers, motorbikers, hikers, foodies, history buffs, pet friendly, vegan, wheelchair access and more. GuruMap only returns places inside your chosen radius that match those ticks, ranked with AI.
How many stops can a route have?
A tour circuit supports up to 12 stops. GuruMap reorders them for the shortest real-world trip using live traffic, then gives distance, drive time, fuel and toll estimates before you start navigation.
What do the plans cost?
